Influence of grading on the thin-layer asphalt concrete properties

Gordana Kaluđer, Filip Kaluđer, Ivica Androjić

Abstract

Results obtained by laboratory testing of samples for preparation of the thin-layer asphalt surfacing BBTM (béton bitumineux très mince), labelled BBTM 11B PmB 45/80-65, are presented in the paper. The testing was conducted to determine dependence of variable asphalt mix grading on the realisation of physical and mechanical properties of samples - stability, stiffness, density, voids content, and percent voids filled with asphalt. BBTM type bituminous mixes are made in accordance with HRN EN 13108-2. Test results obtained show that even minimum variations in the mineral mix grading have a significant impact on each tested property of the asphalt mix.
