Reliability analysis for laminated timber girders

Abstract

Results of the theoretical study aimed at determining reliability of laminated timber girders are presented. Initial dimensions of the analyzed girders are calculated according to Eurocode 5. Limit state equations with stochastic values of basic variables were formed for purposes of this reliability analysis. The equations were solved using the simplified procedure, i.e. the first-order reliability method. Reliability indices obtained as results of this study were compared with the corresponding standard values for structural categories RC2 and RC3.
