Reliability of seismic connection in steel frames with eccentric diagonals

Abstract

Results obtained by the theoretical study of seismic links, which are the most ductile elements of frame systems with eccentric diagonals, are presented. Numerical modelling was conducted by means of the finite element method. The results obtained were used to determine, on the probabilistic level, the reliability index value ß as related to its target value for the structural class RC2. It was demonstrated that the reliability index is the most favourable for the seismic link with three pairs of bracing.
