Integral bridges

Krešimir Šavor

Abstract

In the introduction, the author explains the meaning of the term "integral bridges" as used in international literature, as this term has been used in our country quite rarely despite the fact that bridges as monolithic structures without expansion joints and bearing structures have been realized. Structural and static systems of such bridges are described and their positive and negative properties are indicated. Experience from the U.S.A. and Germany is presented. Bases for the design and calculation of such bridges, including transition from road to bridge, are described in more detail.
