Polypropylene fibers in the support work for the Sveti Rok tunnel

Enes Seferović

Abstract

The analysis of the use of polypropylene fibers in fiber reinforced concrete for the secondary lining of the Sveti Rok tunnel is presented. A special emphasis is placed on the study of toughness and resistance of such concrete to fire action. It is stressed that this type of concrete has an increased resistance to impact and wear, frost and salt, and is much more impermeable to water. Its use is recommended for the primary and secondary tunnel lining, as this will result in higher fire resistance, reduced microcracking, and increased durability.
