Numerical analysis of angle flange cleats subjected to bending

Davor Skejić, Darko Dujmović, Ivan Lukačević

Abstract

Finite element models that are used to determine behaviour of bolted connections with angle flange cleat are described in the paper. Four types of angle flange cleats are considered, depending on the beam to column distance, and on the use of either standard or modified method in the realization of this connection. Material and geometrical nonlinearity, effects of friction, and bolt and plate interaction, are all taken into account. Laboratory testing results are used in the calibration of numerical models adopted in the analysis.
