Strength of polymer laminate subjected to complex testing

Vesna Lacković, Joško Krolo, Joško Ožbolt

Abstract

It is emphasized that the modelling of fibre-reinforced polymer laminates, and prediction of their strength, is a highly complex task namely because of their anisotropy. Difficulties are especially pronounced in the prediction of equivalent stress, i.e. the strength of laminate when subjected to complex load. The model for defining the strength of glass-fibre reinforced polymers subjected to complex load is presented. The procedure can be applied in the analysis of strength of polymer laminates, regardless of the type of matrix and fibre.
